Connection is slow or choppy — how do I improve it?
Check the basics first:
- Make sure both devices have a stable internet connection. High-speed Wi-Fi does not guarantee low latency — a wired connection on the host side helps.
- Check that the system drive has adequate free space (low disk space degrades performance on Windows).
Reduce relay hops:
- LAN-direct / P2P connections (both devices on the same local network) are the fastest and completely free. Tenvo uses them automatically when possible.
- If devices are on different networks, traffic routes through our relay at
relay.tenvoai.com. This is normal; latency depends on your distance to the relay.
Tune streaming settings:
- Turn on Adaptive bitrate in Settings → Input & display so Tenvo adjusts quality automatically.
- During a session, open Advanced controls (the ⋯ button on the session toolbar) to lower the image quality on a slow link.
Antivirus / VPN:
- Temporarily disable VPN clients or add Tenvo to the AV exclusion list — security software can intercept and re-encode traffic, adding significant lag.
Session recording:
- If recording is on and performance is poor, turn off Auto-record incoming sessions under Settings → File transfer to reduce CPU load.
